Mt. Taranaki
This dormant volcano, located on the western tip of the North Island, is also known as Mt Egmont. An almost perfect cone shape, it resembles Mt Fuji and was the filming location for the Tom Cruise film, The Last Samurai. Mt Taranaki reaches 2,518 m (8,261 ft) at its summit and features a small club ski field, the Manganui Ski Area.
