Dawson Falls This gorgeous waterfall is nestled in native bush just 10 minutes walk from the Dawson Falls Visitor Centre in Egmont National Park. The falls are named after the first European to see them, explorer Thomas Dawson. The Maori name for the falls is Te Rere 'O' Noke and is based in local legend which tells of a warrior named Noke who, chased by pursuers, hid behind the waterfall and escaped. Many walking trails lead to or pass by the falls. Address: Egmont National Park, New Plymouth Taranaki NZ
